messing about in boats

Somali Pirates

Posted in Sailing by Joseph Moore on October 29, 2009

I’ve been watching the news coverage about Paul and Rachel Chandler who were sailing their Rival 38A, ‘Lynn Rival’ from the Seychelles to Tanzania when they were attacked by Somali pirates. I’m not sure why, but whenever I hear tales of pirates these days they’re always from Somalia, maybe they’ve been watching too many movies. Anyway, the couple’s boat has been recovered, but no sign of her crew yet. Fingers crossed they turn up safe and sound before too long.

The couple have a blog charting their cruise so far which is well worth a look – there are some stunning photos.

Still, at least the pirates don’t always win

Looks like they’re ok. Just need to get them out of Somalia now…

I highly doubt they are OK. Being held captive by people with AK-47’s is not what I would consider as “OK”. There is more information at http://www.SaveTheChandlers.com

Please help us get them out!
